Rockmount Ranch Wear might be the most famous western outfitter in the country. In 1946, founder Jack A. Weil rented a space at 1626 Wazee Street in Denver’s LoDo neighborhood. Jack’s focus was to create a fashionable and practical identity for the western ranchers in the area. Over the years, Rockmount Ranch Wear has gained an almost cult-like following and their fashions have shown up on the big screen countless times. Perhaps the most notable film to feature the Rockmount Ranch Wear clothing line was in the 2005 Academy Award-winning film, Brokeback Mountain.
Jack worked all the way up to his passing in 2008 and at the time was considered the oldest working CEO in the world (107 years old). He is credited with coining the phrase, “The West is not a place, it is a state of mind.” He is also credited with being the first to put snaps on Western shirts and with inventing the bolo tie.
The store has anything and everything from their signature shirts to cowboy hats and cowboy shoes. Located across the street from The Oxford Hotel, Rockmount Ranch Wear is an absolute must for every visitor to Denver.
